Welcome to Streams of Life- Kenya “Giving children back their future”

Streams of Life is a christian non-profit community based organization focussed on helping children who struggle for survival. In Kenya over 100,000 children roam the streets of major cities and tomorrow hundreds will join them They are searching for things we take for granted-a meal , a blanket , a safe place to sleep tonight and more important – compassion .They lead desperate lives filled with Violence , HIV/AIDS , broken relationships , harassments , teen pregnancies and child labour .These are children who live day by day with no responsibility , no direction and no boundaries .They are addicted to sniffing glue, gasoline and other illicit drugs .They live in a world without love, no reason to live, a world with no future. Children are forced to develop survival skills at a very tender age on the streets and the rule here is” survival for the fittest”. Any heart made of flesh bleeds when one sees all the hardships these children go through. We at streams of life are prepared to take the gospel and Christian love and care to the underprivileged and street children of the world . These children should not be out on the streets working, begging and involved in prostitution, but they are forced by unavoidable circumstances.
To minister to these children, we need to have compassion so that we can become restorers of the streets and slums. we believe this work needs a calling, motivation and burden from the Lord Jesus Christ Himself, because the need of the ministry and children ,is  for long term committed workers .The worker needs to love both the people and the city itself. we need to see the children not just as souls to be saved ,but as people who need human care and response. Having a sense of pity for the children is not enough because pity will run dry very quickly. A worker needs the compassion of Christ which will cause one to move from an emotional response to an action response .one must be “a team-player”not a “ lone-ranger”. it is best to have a ministry team .This is because then ther is a variety of spiritual gifts involved ,there is a protection both physically and spiritually, fellowship and evaluation is possible and more work will get accomplished.
